Ministers and Staff

Fred Thompson - Teaching Pastor/Elder

Fred Thompson and his family came to us from Florida where he had served 17 years as the Minister of Education. Fred received an engineering degree from Georgia Tech and then later received a Master of Divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife Mary have two beautiful daughters.

Harvey Wilson – Senior Adult Pastor

Harvey has spent most of his life here at Mt. Gilead growing up as a part of the church. He has served on staff for the past few years working with our Senior Adult Ministry (the Happy Timers). He also has a special heart for children. He has written several children’s books and also speaks regularly in the school systems sharing his stories with students. Ashley Pittman – Student Minister

Ashley began as Mt. Gilead’s Student Minister in 2011. He graduated from Bible Baptist Institute (now The Baptist College of Florida) in Graceville, Florida. Ashley has a teenager in his home and although he is bi-vocational and works full-time, he enjoys helping students grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Ashley is married and he and his wife Courtney have three children at home. If you'd like to know more about our Student Ministry, please contact Ashley.

Cindy Deason – Children’s Ministry Director

Cindy has been at Mt. Gilead for approximately 20 years but just joined our ministry team in 2011. Cindy has two grown children (19 & 22 years old). She is a certified teacher for elementary and middle school and has taught for about 13 years. In addition to her Children's Ministry responsibilities, Cindy substitutes in the Pike County School system and works part-time in a restaurant in Fayetteville. She loves people and especially children. She has a heart to reach children for Christ and to minister in whatever ways she can. It is her desire to see children come to know Christ and learn about His Word and then grow into mature believers who will then minister to others. Terah Tucker - Worship Leader

Terah is our newest addition to the team. She has a great love for music and enjoys composing and recording songs that bring glory to God. Terah has recorded a CD titled In Simplicity. It is a mixture of vocals, instrumentals, traditional songs, and some new compositions. When Terah leads our music in the worship service, she uses a mixture of traditional hymns and contemporary songs. Terah and her husband Chris have two children.

Jackie Ann Bell - Choir Director

Jackie and her husband David have been long-time members of Mt. Gilead. Jackie became the director of our choir in 2008. She does a great job of helping our choir be true worship leaders. Our choir has special music on almost every Sunday and performs cantatas on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

Donna Kill - Administrative Assistant/Receptionist

Donna and her husband Jim (one of our Elders) have been members of Mt. Gilead since 1993. Donna joined the staff in 2003 and she's the glue that holds everything in our office together. If you call our church, she'll likely be the first voice you hear. Donna can answer most of your questions and if not, she'll refer you to someone who can give you the answer.

Julie Smith - Financial Secretary

Julie keeps an eye our finances. She makes sure our bills are paid and that we honor God with our finances. Julie works closely with our Finance Committee and Church Treasurer to ensure that everything given to Mt. Gilead is used for God's work.
